Tension and Trauma Release Exercises

What is TRE®️ ?

TRE®️ stands for Tension/Trauma Release Exercises and was initially developed by Dr. David Bercelli in the 1980’s to help ease the stress/trauma of those living in war-torn countries in the middle east and Africa. Now these same exercises are available worldwide and are used to lessen workplace/home stress, cultivate peaceful sleep, reduce worry/anxiety, find more energy/motivation, reduce muscle tension, and create greater emotional resiliency.

In the simplest of terms, TRE®️ is a natural, holistic way to release stress, tension, and trauma from the body. The process begins with a series of simple, gentle exercises/stretches meant to fatigue the lower body. This can include exercises like calf raises, lunges, and wall sits. Once the lower body is fatigued, the natural reflex mechanism of shaking is activated. This movement not only releases stress in the muscles, but it also calms down the nervous system.

Many of my clients have seen this shaking response before, either in their pets or themselves. Their dogs shake when they hear loud noises like fireworks and thunderstorms. Other clients have told me that they have experienced this type of shaking while exercising (i.e., weightlifting, yoga, Barre class), giving birth, or right after a near-car accident.

Breathwork

What is breathwork?

When I first heard the term “breathwork” I was curious. Breathing is something that I do every day without thinking about it. “Why would I need to go to a breathwork class?” I wondered. Well, I am so happy that I decided to try a class. The simple process of being aware of my breath and how I was breathing in any given situation was a huge wake up call for me.

As I carried breath awareness into my day-to-day life, I noticed that when I was under stress, I would take short, shallow, rapid breaths and sometimes I would even hold my breath. This breath awareness happened at the very beginning of my first class, and you can imagine the shifts and discoveries that took place when I fully embraced my breathwork journey.

In very basic terms, the term “breathwork” covers various breathing exercises and techniques that can help you improve your mental, physical, and spiritual health. By changing your breathing pattern intentionally, you can influence your mood, energy, stress level, nervous system, and your general well-being. Breathwork can also be a form of meditation, as it helps you focus on the present moment and quiet your mind. Breathwork can be practiced alone or with a group, in person or online. Clients love the fact that I teach a variety of breathing techniques, which allows them to find the technique/style that works best for them and their goals.

Guided Visualizations

What Are Guided Visualizations?

Guided visualizations are a powerful technique that can help you quiet your mind, connect with your body, relax, heal, and manifest your dreams. These visualizations involve using your imagination to create images of what you want to experience. By doing so, you can tap into your subconscious mind to align your thoughts, feelings, and actions. During a typical guided visualization, clients are either seated or lying down in a comfortable position with their eyes closed. Using voice and imagination, I “guide” them on a journey, often starting in nature.

From this beautiful place in nature, the client is encouraged, through further visualization, to release anything that they are ready to let go of. This could be something physical, emotional, or behavioral. I have learned that releasing these things that no longer serve us creates room for more positive emotions and experiences.

The word “visualization” can be a misnomer and cause confusion. For many years, I thought I was experiencing guided visualizations in the wrong way. I never “saw” anything, except maybe colors. I am here to tell you first-hand that there is no ‘right or wrong way” to experience these visualizations. Some people can clearly picture walking down a path in nature, down to the smallest detail. Others can feel or sense that same path and not “see” it. Still others can think back to a time when they were on a path and can imagine it. The key here is to stay open to whatever happens and embrace it.

Coaching

What is Transformational Coaching?

Can you visualize the life you want but are unsure how to make it a reality?  Together, we will challenge your inner critic, limiting beliefs, fears, and anything else that holds you back. Through transformational coaching, you will be empowered to be your best self. By listening attentively, being curious, and asking empowering questions, I can help you realize the life you want.

Transformational coaching is a process that involves a professionally trained life coach who helps a client achieve personal, professional, or relationship goals. They can provide support, accountability, perspective, and tools for success. Coaching can help a client envision and create their ideal life.

Coaching is different from therapy and counseling. Therapy and counseling focus on healing, treating mental health conditions, and resolving past issues. Life coaching is more future-oriented, action-oriented, and goal-oriented. It helps clients overcome obstacles, develop new skills, and make positive changes in their lives.
